Perth Emergency Procedures Facility Fit Out
RPS provided Project Management and Superintendency services for the Perth Emergency Procedures Facility fit out for the Qantas Group. The project is delivering a dedicated Perth training hub to support safety procedures training for pilots and cabin crew, which is mandated by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and international counterparts.
Located in Welshpool, the facility encompasses approximately 2,500 sqm, including 1,500 sqm of commercial accommodation and 1,000 sqm of warehouse space. The scope includes a full commercial fit out with classrooms and office areas, as well as refurbishment of the warehouse to house client-supplied emergency training equipment.
The challenge
While Qantas operates several facilities to deliver emergency procedures training, existing sites are located on Australia’s east coast. To improve productivity and training pathways for WA based cabin crew and pilots, Qantas sought to establish a dedicated Perth based training facility.
The project also required delivery of a specialist training environment capable of integrating, commissioning and making operational client-supplied emergency procedures equipment within a combined commercial and warehouse tenancy.
Our approach
RPS was engaged from the early stages to support delivery under a Design and Construct model. Working from a 30% Schematic Design developed by the client, our team progressed the project through to delivery, applying a structured management framework to maintain momentum and control across design, procurement and construction.
Throughout delivery, RPS focused on ensuring end user requirements were met and that the facility was configured to support specialist training outcomes. This included coordinating the refurbishment of the warehouse space to accommodate client-supplied equipment and supporting its integration, commissioning and operational readiness.
The result
This project commenced in July 2024 and was completed in November 2025.
This is Qantas’ first purpose-built Group Emergency Procedures Training Centre which integrates classroom, practical and virtual reality training under one roof in a dedicated facility to support Qantas, Qantaslink and Jetstar WA-based pilots and cabin crew.
