Legionella Risk Management - General Awareness Training (City & Guilds Assured)

Duration

1 day

Objectives

General awareness training for Legionella aims to ensure individuals understand the bacteria, its risks, and how to prevent infection by covering topics like how the bacteria spreads, legal responsibilities, risk assessment, control measures, and water hygiene. This training is essential for those who manage, monitor, or work around water systems to protect themselves and others from Legionnaires' disease.

This module aims to help you understand:
  • The legionella bacteria itself
  • The history of legionnaires’ disease
  • What legionnaires’ disease and legionellosis is
  • Who is at risk
  • How water systems become infected
  • Law and guidance surrounding legionella
  • About Legionella and water quality assessments
  • Written schemes
  • How to manage and control legionella
  • What the favourable conditions for bacterial growth are
  • Types of water outlets and how they provide a risk
  • Planned preventative maintenance tasks (PPMs)
  • Microbiological sampling
  • The consequences of ineffective legionella risk management

Legionella Risk Management - Responsible Persons Training (ILM Assured)

Duration

2 days

Objectives

Our ILM-Assured Responsible Persons Training aims to provide detailed legionella training to owners and operators of hot and cold water, and other systems so they understand how to meet the demands of health and safety legislation (and so operate their water systems safely and within the law).

It also aims to help you gain an understanding of the management of risk and the degree of control necessary in the most common systems, and an outline of the requirements of the control of other systems, including commercial and industrial water systems (and where that information can be obtained).

After this course, you should be able to understand how to deal with the regulators, what to expect during an inspection, how to prepare for a visit from them, what powers they have and the types of enforcement they can take.

This module aims to help you understand:
