Lawrence Young joins RPS to support practical AI adoption
RPS has welcomed Lawrence Young, a computer engineering student from the University of Sydney, who has joined the business on a six-month embedded placement focused on helping teams apply AI in practical, value-driven ways.
Lawrence is the first of two University of Sydney placements planned for 2026, with a second student expected to join RPS in the back half of the year.
Building on a strong client relationship
RPS has a long-standing relationship with the University of Sydney, built through major programs of work delivered over many years. The placement reflects that ongoing connection and a shared focus on building future capability, combining real-world experience with practical problem solving.
General Manager Paul Taylor, who is overseeing RPS’ AI capability uplift, said: “to improve how teams work day to day, from drafting and structuring content, to improving consistency in governance and reporting, to helping teams get to confident decisions faster.”
How the placement supports RPS’s AI capability work
During his placement, Lawrence will support the development of practical AI-enabled tools and workflows that can be used across the business, particularly in areas where speed, clarity and quality matter. This includes helping teams turn repeatable tasks into consistent, safe and usable processes, and packaging that capability so it’s easy for people to adopt.
While the specific tools will evolve as priorities are confirmed, the focus is consistent: build practical solutions, learn quickly, and help teams apply AI in ways that make delivery more efficient and reliable.
Commenting on his placement, Lawrence said: “I’m excited to be joining RPS and working closely with teams across the business. It’s a great opportunity to apply what I’ve studied to real-world challenges, and to help build tools that make everyday work simpler, faster and more consistent.”
Looking ahead
The placement is the first step in a broader effort to build confidence and capability in how AI is used across RPS. With a second University of Sydney student joining later in 2026, RPS will continue to grow practical experience and momentum, ensuring AI is applied in ways that create real value for teams and clients.
