Albion Exchange

RPS planning specialists are supporting a landmark transport oriented development (TOD) proposal for the suburb of Albion in Brisbane’s inner north.

Challenge

Following a market engagement process that saw the Queensland State Government enter into a preferred developer agreement with Geon Property, RPS has been assisting with development planning for a mixed-use revitalisation of the Albion Train Station precinct.

Designed with urban activation and transport connectivity at its heart, Albion Exchange will provide a mix of uses including new residential accommodation, commercial office space, dining and shopping facilities, along with a $28.7 million upgrade to transport facilities and public space.

Geon Property

Solution

Engaged to assist Geon Property navigate the statutory planning frameworks and approvals required to progress Albion Exchange from concept design to built form reality, we've been supporting the project’s design team with approvals strategy, material change of use and road closure applications, transport and centre planning.

With a key development challenge being the reconciliation of local planning scheme designations for building scale with the broader regional objective to promote higher densities around transport corridors, RPS is helping Geon Property develop the case for increased heights, in alignment with transport oriented design principles.
