Queensland Department of Education Advancing Clean Energy Schools (ACES) Program
RPS has supported Queensland’s Department of Education to deliver $168 million in sustainability upgrades at public schools across the state.
School sustainability upgrades, delivered at scale
Advancing Clean Energy Schools (ACES) was a significant investment to reduce energy costs across Queensland public schools through solar and energy efficiency measures over three years. With the program completed in mid-2022, the initiative has seen 200,000 solar panel installations and a range of other power and money-saving measures delivered at 912 schools.
A state-wide initiative, ACES was a complex program involving thousands of stakeholders, contractors and communities. Before work began, each school underwent a detailed facilities study to determine energy usage and define what energy conservation measures (e.g. solar, LED lighting etc) would be most effective in reducing overall consumption.
RPS digital platform for program management
RPS began supporting the Department of Education Queensland’s ACES Program in March 2019, engaged to provide program advisory and project management services for the initiative.
Drawing on decades of experience supporting the delivery of multi-million dollar physical and social infrastructure investment programs–from hospitals and schools to transport, utilities, defence and telecommunications–our project management and advisory consultants created significant efficiencies for ACES through program leadership, individual project management and our own proprietary program management software – myProjects.
Designed by RPS, myProjects was customised to suit the unique scale, governance and reporting requirements of ACES, meaning program stakeholders at all levels had reliable information to guide decision-making and monitor progress metrics in real-time.
