New office for Australian Government agency
RPS manages office fitout for government agency
As organisations grow and evolve, they often end up with employees dispersed across multiple locations. Not only is this a barrier to collaboration, it can also multiply costs. This was the challenge facing one Australian Government agency, who had staff working from three Canberra offices due to rapid growth. The solution? A new custom-designed office fitout that would bring all workers together in a single, unified space.
Enter RPS’ project management team, who were engaged to manage the procurement, design and construction of the fitout and support the transition of agency staff into their high-security, high-spec workspace.
Designed for accessibility and security
Supporting some of Australia’s most vulnerable community members is the mandate for this government agency, so it was vital that its workspace be designed for accessibility. Design features that would support building users and visitors who are differently abled was a must.
Our project managers provided the management framework, leadership and project controls that would allow the design team to integrate these ‘non-standard’ accessibility elements alongside sustainability inclusions and complex security requirements, all while keeping the project on budget, and on schedule.
Assembling the right team
Throughout the project, RPS directly procured and managed multiple technical, design and contractor teams across 17 different contracts, and even supported the agency with their Agreement for Lease between the government agency (tenant) and the base building’s landlord.
An evolving design brief, complex technical requirements, long-lead time security items and a large group of stakeholders were all challenges to overcome, but RPS was able to bring the right team together to deliver a workspace that works for the agency, its staff, and the clients in serves.
