HMAS Cerberus Redevelopment
RPS has worked with the Department of Defence to deliver key improvements at HMAS Cerberus, a key training location for Australian Navy personnel.
Challenge
HMAS Cerberus is the Navy’s primary training facility, and a pivotal piece of infrastructure for the Australian Defence Force. A significant number of uniformed, defence, civilian and contracted staff work on the base, and HMAS Cerberus takes in many more trainees across different courses annually.
To ensure that the base remains fit-for-purpose until at least 2030, HMAS Cerberus requires extensive redevelopment, all of which need to be carried out without disrupting normal training programs and activities. The project has 23 key deliverables, which are to be achieved over a five-year period.
Solution
Engaged by Defence to provide project management and contract administration (PMCA) services for the entire redevelopment, RPS is facilitating key refurbishments and upgrades to the base’s engineering infrastructure and training facilities between 2018 and 2023.
Drawing on our experience delivering some of the most complex Australian Defence capability and infrastructure projects, RPS project management specialists are supporting HMAS Cerberus’ redevelopment from the initial planning phase to design management, development and final handover, including Parliamentary Works Committee (PWC) approvals.
