RPS’ Townsville team is a long-term partner of Goldtower Properties, helping them bring to life Goldtower Central the largest mixed-use commercial development of its kind in the Charters Towers region.
Challenge
Located in Charter Towers Shire in North Queensland, Goldtower Central is positioned to be home to some of the most recognisable retail and industrial companies in North Queensland.
In creating a premier commercial, light industrial and retail precinct, Goldtower Properties engaged our urban design, landscape architecture and planning teams to provide their deep expertise in masterplanning design and planning approvals.
Solution
To support a range of end-users (commercial, retail, community and light-medium impact industrial) our team set-out to design a flexible, contemporary masterplan which complements the prestige of the tenants that would make the precinct their home. The masterplan features a variety of business accommodation options, expansive gardens and wide internal roads for ease of accessibility.
To better facilitate the mixed industry and business activities within the precinct, our planning specialists prepared all applications, including a plan of development to facilitate ease of all subsequent buildings, operational works and tenancy occupation certificates.
In addition to providing planning and masterplanning solutions, our team are continuing to work with our client coordinating marketing material for leasing and sales strategy initiatives.

The planning and development of Goldtower Central has set a new benchmark for the planning of mixed industry and business use in the region. Recent changes to the Charters Towers Regional Council regional planning scheme have adopted key outcomes from our project’s plan of development.
