Meet Liz...
With over three decades of experience, Liz shares her journey, highlighting the unique culture and supportive environment at RPS that ultimately drew them back. Her story serves as a testament to the value of teamwork, flexibility, and personal growth within our organisation, making it an ideal place for new recruits to thrive.

Q You have quite an impressive background in Occupational Health and Safety. Can you share a bit about your journey and what led you back to RPS?
It’s been quite a journey for me. After 34 years in Occupational Health, I initially left nursing due to some disillusionment and decided to pursue a degree in HR and Management. I stumbled into Occupational Health quite by accident while working in various industries, including the food sector, chemicals, and technology. I then gained my degree in Occupational Safety and Health, which opened new doors for me. My career path took me from BskyB, where I worked my way up to Clinical Manager after my studies, to the maritime industry, and even running my own consultancy for 12 years.
Q That’s a wealth of experience! What made you decide to join RPS in the first place?
I joined RPS in 2015 because I was drawn to the diverse range of skills and experiences that the company offered. I quickly moved up to Clinical Manager for the South and Scotland and worked on government contracts. It was a fulfilling role, but I decided to explore other opportunities, thinking I might find something better.
Q And what did you discover during your time away?
I learned that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. While I gained valuable experience in the banking sector, police, and automotive industries, I really missed the close friendships and the supportive atmosphere at RPS. The camaraderie, the “can-do” attitude, and the flexibility we have here are truly unique.
It sounds like the culture at RPS played a significant role in your decision to return. Can you elaborate on that?
Certainly! At RPS, it’s all about teamwork. From the administrators to the directors, everyone plays a crucial role in delivering excellent customer service. The company recognises that our collective efforts lead to satisfaction and success. I appreciate how RPS values each team member, and I feel that my input is genuinely considered. I’m not just seen as “a nurse” but as a professional with valuable insights to share.
Q That’s a refreshing perspective. What are your aspirations now that you’ve returned?
My main aspiration is to pass on my expertise to others. I want to foster good working relationships and be approachable for both new and existing staff. I understand that starting a new job can be challenging, and I aim to help others navigate that transition. Ultimately, I want to contribute to a positive work environment that supports everyone’s growth.
Q It sounds like you’re committed to creating a supportive culture at RPS. How do you envision achieving that?
I believe in being solution-oriented and approachable. By actively listening to my colleagues and understanding their challenges, I can help find solutions that benefit everyone. I want to ensure that new staff feel welcomed and supported, and that we all work together to maintain the positive atmosphere that I missed during my time away.
Q What's next for you in your career?
I hope to have a happy retirement when the time comes, but for now, I’m excited to be back at RPS. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team and helping to shape the next generation of Occupational Health professionals.
Your insights highlight the positive culture at RPS and the importance of teamwork. For anyone considering a career with us, what would you say?
