TAFE NSW Bega Multi Trades Hub
TAFE NSW engaged our team to provide project management and contract administration services for the Bega Multi Trades Hub, a specialist education and training facility at TAFE NSW Bega in regional New South Wales.
Located in the Sapphire Coast region, the Bega campus supports learners, employers and industry across the local community and surrounding district. The Multi Trades Hub was developed to provide modern, practical and digitally enabled training spaces that reflect the way students learn and the way industry works.
Our role covered the full project pathway from initial concept and planning through to design, construction and delivery. Working under a GC21 Edition 2 design and construct model, our project managers coordinated internal stakeholders, TAFE NSW service providers, procurement, contract administration and handover requirements.
The challenge
TAFE NSW needed a facility that could bring multiple training environments together in one flexible hub. The project included a multi-trade workshop, general learning spaces, health and care practical learning areas, commercial hospitality spaces, staff and administration areas, amenities, parking and information and communication technology to support blended course delivery.
Delivering this type of facility required close coordination between design, construction, technology, service provider and stakeholder inputs. The project also needed to maintain clear control of time, cost, quality and scope while progressing through planning, procurement, construction and handover.
For a regional campus, the outcome needed to be practical and future-focused: a training environment that could support hands-on learning, flexible delivery and the skills needs of the Bega Valley and surrounding district.
Our approach
Our project managers provided end-to-end project management and contract administration across the complete project lifecycle. This included supporting the initial concept and planning phases, managing design development, coordinating procurement and administering the design and construct contract through delivery.
The team engaged and managed a range of TAFE NSW service providers and internal stakeholders, helping align technical requirements, operational needs and delivery decisions. This was particularly important for specialist spaces such as the workshop, commercial kitchen, bar and restaurant, practical learning areas, staff spaces and information and communication technology systems.
Throughout the engagement, our focus was on practical delivery control. We supported clear reporting, coordinated stakeholder inputs, managed contractor and service provider interfaces, and helped maintain the pathway from planning through to construction completion and handover.
The result
The Bega Multi Trades Hub has strengthened TAFE NSW Bega’s specialist training environment, providing a two-storey facility that supports practical, industry-aligned learning across trades, hospitality, health and care-related training areas.
The completed facility includes workshop and learning spaces, commercial hospitality training areas, staff and administration facilities, amenities, car parking and digital infrastructure to support blended delivery. Current TAFE NSW Bega campus facilities include a commercial kitchen, engineering workshop, light vehicle automotive workshop, simulated hospital setting, simulated residential aged care environment, training bar, training cafe and training restaurant.
For TAFE NSW, the project delivered modern regional training infrastructure that supports local learners and industry. For our team, it demonstrated the value of disciplined project management and contract administration across the full lifecycle of an education capital works project.
