Gannawarra Solar Farm
Gannawarra Solar Farm is a 60 MW photovoltaic solar farm installation located in regional Victoria west of the township of Kerang, Victoria.
Renewables for regional Victoria
Featuring single-axis tracking photovoltaic panels that “follow the sun” Gannawarra is a highly efficient renewable energy precinct that also includes a battery storage component.
With planning approvals secured for the site in 2013, RPS was engaged to provide a range of technical and management expertise to assist Solar Choice respond to specific approval conditions, and manage any impacts on the local environment and community.
Our team was responsible for developing Landscape Management, Environmental Management and Emergency Management Plans for the site, while coordinating the development of a Traffic Impact Assessment Report and Traffic Management Plan.
Gannawarra officially opened in June 2018 and now supplies thousands of Victorian homes and businesses with clean renewable energy.
Now owned by another of RPS’ long-term renewable energy clients, Edify Energy, Gannawarra has become a case study for how renewables infrastructure can be successfully integrated with other land uses, with sheep introduced to the site in 2020 as part of an industry-first Agrisolar trial.
With the flock now grazing freely among the PV panels, Gannawarra has set the benchmark for land-use partnerships between renewable energy producers and primary producers.
