Adelaide Railway Station Upgrade

Challenge

The Adelaide Railway Station is an iconic State Heritage-listed building, with a rich history and significant cultural value. Much of the building’s facade and windows require conservation work, including specialist stone consolidation, plastering and plaster stabilisation, carpentry and metalwork restoration among other tasks. However, these works and the project in general require a thorough understanding and ongoing consideration of the building’s cultural and historical value, as to ensure the preservation of its historically significant building materials.

Solution

RPS will provide personnel to act as the project managers and superintendent for these works, which will be undertaken in five stages:

  • Stage 1: Restoration Delivery Plan/Methodology
  • Stage 2: Final Restoration Delivery Plan
  • Stage 3: Statutory Approval
  • Stage 4: Construction
  • Stage 5: Completion

The works are projected to be completed by 2022 as part of a wider rejuvenation of the Adelaide Railway Station, which includes the construction of a new entrance and the revitalisation of the station’s commercial offering.

Project Statistics

  • Project value - $7 million
