Dr Joe Sanders
In April 2025, the water industry entered the latest regulatory period, AMP8. The challenges that we face as an industry are significant, specifically around CSOs (Combined Sewer Overflows) and Leakage. Not only that, but we'll be seeing far more data coming into the sector than ever before, ranging from EDMs measuring discharges into rivers, as well as enhanced leakage data and ever-increasing numbers of household smart meters.
It's going to be interesting to see how we push forward with these challenges into the near future. One thing is certain, we’ll need to have an understanding on how to use this data in different ways, and make sure that we use it to meet the challenges that we have as we go towards 2030.
