RPS metocean team celebrates Netherlands project milestone
Following the successful completion of the first of a two-year wind resource and metocean measurement programme for the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone located in the Dutch North Sea, RPS has reached an important project milestone with the release of our first set of annual reports.

These reports will provide the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) with high-quality data to share with potential developers, ensuring bids for offshore licences can be made with greater confidence and reducing the need for further surveys.
RPS Floating LiDAR buoys were deployed in 2022 to measure, collect and report on crucial wind, wave and current profiles and tidal data. The findings from this data are being used to inform the definition of the wind resource and provide design information for the wind farm development. To date, an impressive data return of over 95% has been achieved, with on-time delivery and no safety incidents.
This project is the first of three in which RPS is supporting the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy via RVO. In addition to the IJmuiden Ver project, RPS is also measuring offshore wind resource and metocean data at both the Nederwiek and Doordewind Wind Farm Zones.
On 21 September, RPS will present at an RVO public webinar to share our expertise and insights with clients and other industry stakeholders. The session will cover our use of measurement technology, operations, and how we evaluate results and validate findings.
Watch the RVO webinar to find out more about this important project as well as RPS’ world-leading measurement technology.
Anthony Gaffney, Metocean Director – UK/EAME, said: “We are proud to support the Dutch offshore wind industry from our quayside base in Den Helder, using advanced RPS technology to gather reliable data and information for our client and their stakeholders.”
