RPS is pleased to have been reappointed to the Australian Department of Defence’s Capital Facilities and Infrastructure (CFI) Defence Infrastructure Panel.
The new panel will run for five years to 2027, allowing Defence’s CFI branch to engage specialist consultants for Army, Navy, and Air Force infrastructure development initiatives including base upgrades, training area developments, naval dock projects, and more.
RPS has been selected to offer expertise under the CFI 'Specialist Services' service category, one of only five organisations to do so. The newly formed panel affords CFI and the broader Commonwealth community to engage industry expertise to support its own workforce to deliver $270 billion of investment into the capability and potency of the Defence force over the next 10 years.
In addition to the 'Specialist Services' service category, RPS has been selected to offer expertise under the 'Project Management and Contract Administration' service category, one of only eight organisations to do so — down from fourteen panellists under the previous arrangement.
With these service categories now finalised, it is expected that CFI will begin to release new tranches of work in coming weeks — projects that could add to the approximately $11 billion in Australian Defence building and infrastructure projects that are already under management by RPS.
"Here in Australia, our project management team’s story has always been deeply entwined with Defence people, projects and infrastructure,” said Michael Owens, RPS Executive Director, Project Management.
“This part of our business was established by consultants who had served, and who wanted to contribute their expertise to Australia’s most important and complex Defence and national security initiatives.
"It’s a philosophy we carry on today in the work we do on projects like the Navy Capability Infrastructure Subprogram, RAAF Base Tindal Program of Works, and HMAS Cerberus Redevelopment.
“After working with CFI for more than a decade under previous Defence Infrastructure Panel arrangements, there really is no better endorsement of our capabilities than to be appointed for another five years,” said Michael.
“We’re proud to support the Australian Defence Force to meet its infrastructure delivery objectives and achieve its ultimate goal – to keep Australia secure, and our region safe.”
