Challenge
Provence is a unique residential development with extensive native vegetation, shallow groundwater, and an existing residential development that required additional road connections and road grade changes.
For our client Satterley Property Group, the successful delivery of Provence estate is technically complex, and relies on ongoing liaison with local and state government agencies.
Solution
Understanding the important relationships between people, the built and natural environment, RPS was originally engaged by Satterley Property Group in 2012 to provide overall environmental project management and advice during the project’s early stages.
In response to information gaps and proposed changes to the development, our environmental consultants delivered a range of comprehensive environmental analysis, while adhering to the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) regulations to prevent and reduce harm to the environment. These included:
- Reviews of previous ecological studies
- Level one flora and vegetation surveys
- Fauna habitat assessments
- An environmental assessment report (EAR) detailing the existing natural environment of the site and identifying the potential environmental impacts and management actions to progress development
- An acid sulfate soils and dewatering management plan (ASSDMP).
Following the ASSDMP, our contaminated land specialists provided acid sulfate soil and groundwater treatment supervision through the construction of multiple development sub-stages of Provence, and earthworks associated with the construction of a sewer pump station for water supplier, Water Corporation.
As Provence moves along in its development, our experts will continue to support the project by supervising the treatment of acid sulfate soils and providing ongoing environmental monitoring services and recommendations.
