Curtin University Law School Murray St Building

RPS worked with Curtin University’s Law School to manage, plan and execute the fitout of a newly acquired building in order to improve its offering for prospective and existing students.

Challenge

Curtin University had identified and acquired a heritage-listed building in close proximity to Perth’s legal precinct. It intended to use this building for several purposes, including:

  • Additional space for teaching and learning
  • A practicing law clinic which would give students an opportunity to actively participate in delivering legal services
  • Private practice barristers’ offices

RPS was appointed as project manager in February 2015 to manage and coordinate the fitout process from start to finish.

Solution

RPS’ services ensured that all aspects of the fitout project were completed within a very narrow timeframe. Across the life of the project, RPS was responsible for:

  • Managing the project in line with the predetermined project scope
  • Liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Procuring a design team and then managing the design and documentation process
  • Sourcing and securing a suitable contractor to complete the fitout works.

As a result of RPS’ work on the project, Curtin University Law School’s new city location was officially opened in April 2016. RPS won the Australian Institute of Project Management 2016 Small Project Award for our work on this project.
