Tetra Tech RPS Energy will support the development of an ESIA for the Curonian Nord project for our client, Ignitis Renewables. We will prepare and review documentation throughout the process until submission in late 2025.
“We are delighted to have been chosen by Ignitis Renewables to support their goal of completing an ESIA to the highest standards. This will consider compliance with international guidelines, such as the International Finance Corporation’s Performance Standards – required by International Financial Institutions for a bankable development,” said Morag Wilson, Project Director for the Tetra Tech RPS Energy team.
Our extended global team is highly experienced in offshore ESIA work and is currently undertaking several ESIA projects for proposed offshore wind farms internationally. The team will draw on their international ESIA expertise in both established and new markets, and in working within evolving regulatory frameworks.
The Curonian Nord offshore wind farm project would have a generating capacity of 700 MW and could cover around a quarter of Lithuania’s current electricity demand. Offshore wind plays a major role in the goals set out in Lithuania’s National Energy Independence Strategy.
Nicola Simpson, Tetra Tech RPS Energy Offshore Renewables Director, said: “This exciting project will further progress towards energy security and sustainability goals in Lithuania, as well as net zero targets in Europe. Our teams have earned a reputation globally for the quality of our offshore ESIA work, and we look forward to helping set standards for sustainable development as a part of one of Lithuania’s first offshore wind projects.”
