Our Newcastle-based project management team has been supporting BAE Systems Australia to plan for the facilities and infrastructure works associated with its recently signed Facility Services Deed with the Federal Government.
With the Deed now in place, our team will support the next phase of infrastructure works planning and delivery at BAE Systems Australia’s Williamtown site − adjacent to Newcastle Airport and RAAF Base Williamtown. The works will help the company with its maintenance and sustainment activities for the Royal Australian Air Force’s fleet of F-35 jets.
In the initial phase, the program will include upgrades to BAE Systems Australia’s existing South Hangar infrastructure, with subsequent works to potentially include an expansion of its existing North Hangar and additional new facility works that would further enhance Air Force fleet maintenance, repair, overhaul, and upgrade operations.
With a long track-record of supporting Defence, defence industry, and aviation sector partners on complex project delivery, RPS is excited to contribute our project management expertise to this critical program of work.
RPS project lead, Dave Mattiussi, said it was a privilege to work with BAE Systems Australia on upgrades that will not only support future Defence capability, but contribute to the local economy in the Newcastle and Hunter region, too.
“From our work on Growler Airborne Electronic Attack and Battlefield Airlifter capability sustainment facilities, to our support for Air Force, Army and Navy base and training area projects right across Australia, RPS is a true specialist in Defence programs, and complex project delivery,” he said.
“As a locally-based project management firm, it’s exciting to see continued investment and development in Williamtown, and we are looking forward to continuing our work with BAE Systems Australia as part of this.
“Through this program we will not only be improving physical infrastructure at Williamtown, but enhancing Defence capability and the security that it represents for Australia, and the broader region.”
