RPS to lead offshore consenting and licence activities to deliver the Berwick Bank & Marr Bank offshore wind farm projects
08 July 2020 | 2 min read
SSE Renewables is now in the process of seeking consent for the next phase of their Firth of Forth offshore wind farms, Berwick Bank and Marr Bank. Combined, these proposed developments could generate up to 4.15 GW of renewable electricity.
RPS are delighted to have been appointed the lead offshore Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and shadow Habitat Regulation Appraisal (HRA) consultant for both Berwick Bank and Marr Bank offshore wind farm projects. Having previously undertaken the EIA/HRA for 21 GW of offshore wind projects within the UK, our team are thrilled to apply the experience and knowledge gained from these projects to advise SSE Renewables.
Louise Davis, Berwick Bank and Marr Bank Consent Team Manager, commented: “We are pleased to have RPS on board as lead EIA and HRA consultants. They bring a wealth of experience to this key discipline for the development of the Berwick Bank and Marr Bank projects and we look forward to working with them.”
Emily King, Project Director of the offshore EIA and HRA, commented: “Having provided post consent support services to both Seagreen Alpha and Bravo, it’s really exciting to be leading the EIA and HRA for both Berwick Bank and Marr Bank. We are looking forward to working with SSE Renewables’ development team and in close collaboration with the project’s key stakeholders throughout the pre-application phase for both projects.”
RPS will lead the development of the Berwick Bank and Marr Bank Scoping Reports, EIA Reports, HRA Screening Reports and Report to Inform Appropriate Assessments (RIAAs), to inform the application for consent for both projects. Most of the assessments will be undertaken by our in-house technical specialists, which include a comprehensive range of human, biological and physical environmental topics, under the guidance of our expert project management team.
