International accolades for RPS-designed Fish Lane Town Square

RPS landscape architects have secured top industry honours for their work on Brisbane urban regeneration project, Fish Lane Town Square.
Competing against projects from Texas to Shenzhen, RPS took out best project in the ‘Built Urban Design’ category in this year's World Landscape Architecture (WLA) Awards.
Drawing national and global design praise, Fish Lane Town Square was a collaboration between RPS, Aria Property Group, and Richards and Spence Architects. The project transformed a dark and disused car parking area in Brisbane’s South Bank into a lush entertainment, hospitality, and arts destination for the city.
“Fish Lane Town Square is an immersive sub-tropical oasis in the heart of South Bank. Before this transformation, it was a space you would walk past and not look twice at. Now, it’s a place that truly draws you in,” said RPS Executive Director for Place and Environment, Susan Farr.
“From the design of family-friendly rooftop gardens that make inner-city apartment living viable for people with kids, to innovative urban regeneration projects like this one, our landscape architects are taking design to new levels.
“Fish Lane is a perfect example of the opportunities we have to transform forgotten, underutilised ‘dead space’ into places that the community can enjoy. I’m really proud that our team has been recognised on the global stage for pushing the envelope of placemaking,” she said.
