Green light for Sparrow Lodge Solar Farm

12 Mar 2021

We’re thrilled to announce that planning permission has been granted for Sparrow Lodge Solar Farm, a 20 Megawatt renewable energy facility on the Northamptonshire Buckinghamshire border.

Once commissioned, the solar farm will provide a renewable energy source equivalent to the annual electricity needs of approximately 6,000 homes, offsetting 10,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

On behalf of Elgin Energy, our multi-disciplinary team provided Planning Consultancy and Environmental Services, including Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, Heritage Consultancy, Flood Risk Assessment, Noise Impact Assessment and a Construction Traffic Management Plan.

This is one of many planning permissions secured for Elgin Energy with many more in the planning stages.

Gareth Gardener, Principal Consultant - Wales and West Planning team, commented: “We are delighted to confirm that Elgin Energy’s Sparrow Lodge project received unanimous planning approval on 4th March 2021. The Covid lockdown restrictions placed on councils and our team meant the consultation process was somewhat different. It was kind of surreal on the Zoom committee meeting with the client watching the live YouTube feed."

“For the UK to transition to a Net Zero Carbon economy by 2050, it is critical that renewable and low-carbon projects are approved without delay. This solar farm will make a valuable contribution to the generation of renewable energy at a local level.”
