RPS prepared an alternatives analysis, schematic design, and an Environmental Assessment for the upgrade of US 59 to Interstate standards to be designated as IH-69 in Wharton County.
The project limits are the Fort Bend County Line to the Jackson County Line. The project length is 38 miles. The project includes a public involvement program with a major outreach program to communicate with property owners and road users. The project involves designing continuous frontage roads for a controlled access freeway. The existing facility may have to be upgraded to meet current design criteria. There is a total of 18 grade separations. Major river crossings include the Colorado River and the San Bernard River.
