Sunshine Cove
Award-winning development Sunshine Cove is one of the most comprehensively masterplanned communities in Australia. Creating a new style of urbanisation, Sunshine Cove has changed the face and future of Queensland's Maroochydore CBD.
Long-term partnership
Located in the heart of Maroochydore, Sunshine Cove is an integrated mixed-use masterplanned community offering commercial, retail, soho and urban living. Since 2004, RPS’ team of urban design and surveying specialists have supported Chardan Development Group to deliver this unique project.
To achieve the vision of creating a truly urban lifestyle community, six measures were applied throughout the development: sustainability, community, growth, amenity, innovation and affordability.
Pushing to the boundaries to futureproof communities
Currently home to 4,000 people over a 106-hectare site, Sunshine Cove is an example of some of the most dynamic and modern living options in Australia.
To create a fresh perspective on urbanisation, our team implemented innovative design approaches and the creation of land titles for Sunshine Cove. Adopting these design solutions had particular impact on the community’s medium-density housing that focused on two and three storey freehold housing. This new approach allowed owners the freedom to design and construct their home to suite their individual lifestyle needs.
This design and titling approach also applied duel built-to-boundary (with little to no encumbrances), reduced setbacks, access via rear lanes, soho terraces and housing as freehold dwellings (down to 113 square metres) as contemporary interpretations of Queensland titling laws and the local planning laws.
Through each stage of development our experts worked together with Sunshine Coast Regional Council, services providers and local builders to create an award-winning, thriving urban lifestyle community with diverse architecture and a unique public realm.
