Scottish Water Framework

We have been and continue to work closely with industry leaders of the water industry across various frameworks for matters pertaining to health and safety throughout the earliest stages of a project from concept design through to construction work from a position of knowledge and strength.

We have dedicated experts within the water industry who engage with and advise clients and designers of asset operation and construction related health and safety issues.  We characterise the environment where civil engineering works will be conducted which allows clients, contractors and stakeholders to understand the issues that will have to be overcome.

We continue to undertake diverse projects that range but are not limited to the following:

  • Infrastructure design, construction liaison and monitoring;
  • Water mains diversions in conjunction with large civil engineering NRSWA projects;
  • Capital maintenance;
  • Flow and pressure management;
  • Trunk main conditioning and flushing regimes;
  • Redundant asset abandonment.

Challenge

A significant part of our role is to characterise the site environs of all our projects within occupied areas.  All of our projects present the complex challenge of carrying out intrusive construction work below ground within the public, private or commercially owned domains.  We understand the complexities these instances presents and how these can be successfully managed throughout design and construction.

Solution

Our consultants are involved throughout the project life and encourage designers to take site specific health and safety considerations into account and to simplify design where practicable.  This eases the planning and delivery of a project.  By being involved at the planning and design phases allows us to understand the impact of decisions made whilst also providing the contractor information to organise and manage the construction process.

We use a Document Management System that demonstrates due process has been followed and that client milestones have been achieved.  This web-based system, specifically designed to offer easy access to create and manage project documentation, is adopted across our entire spectrum of projects and provides assurance that evidence has been retained.  Furthermore, this system automatically backs up our records on a daily basis.
