Regent's Place, Chellaston

Appointed as Employer’s Agent and Clerk of Works for Phases 1 and 2 on behalf of Sage Housing, we were involved in the design and construction of 81 new-build dwellings at Regents Place, Chellaston. The development comprised 10 two-bedroom apartments, 33 two-bedroom houses and 38 three-bedroom houses as part of affordable housing Section 106 planning requirements with Persimmon Homes.

Challenge

Our role entailed ensuring compliance with the development agreement as well as undertaking regular inspections to check progress and quality on site.

We were faced with the challenge of demonstrating compliance with S106 obligations. We stepped in and managed the communication directly – had we not intervened, legal completion may have been delayed.

Solution

As Purchaser's Agent and Clerk of Works for the affordable element of the scheme, we chaired monthly site meetings to discuss and agree design, specification, progress, programme and quality.

To ensure quality was maintained, we carried out weekly clerk of works visits and issued reports to the client and developer team, allowing issues to be resolved during the build and prior to handover.
