Northern Territory Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics – myProjects

RPS partnered with the Northern Territory Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) to implement myProjects as a scalable project management solution. Delivered over six months in Darwin, the project focused on improving reporting, standardising processes, and enhancing collaboration across DIPL’s portfolio of remote housing projects.

The challenge

Before implementing myProjects, DIPL faced significant challenges in managing and reporting on its projects. Project reporting was fragmented, making it difficult to consolidate data and generate accurate, standardised reports. The absence of consistent project management processes created inefficiencies and limited the department’s ability to compare performance or identify best practices.

With projects spread across multiple teams and locations, collaboration and communication were also constrained. Stakeholders lacked a central platform for sharing information, coordinating tasks, and maintaining consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle. Together, these challenges hindered DIPL’s ability to deliver projects efficiently and effectively at scale.

Our approach

To address these issues, RPS implemented myProjects as a fit-for-purpose solution tailored to DIPL’s needs. The implementation included:

• Centralised project reporting: A single platform for collecting, analysing, and reporting on project data in real time, with automated reporting and improved visibility of progress, KPIs, and resource utilisation.

• Standardised project management processes: Tools to support project planning, task management, and milestone tracking, creating consistency across projects and enabling benchmarking and adoption of best practices.

• Enhanced collaboration and communication: Features such as document sharing, discussion forums, and notifications facilitated seamless information exchange across teams and stakeholders.

• Scalability and adoption: Designed to be scalable, myProjects enabled department-wide adoption, supporting a growing project portfolio and the evolving needs of diverse teams.

Through structured implementation, RPS aligned system configuration with DIPL’s project delivery needs, helping to embed a more consistent and collaborative approach to project management.

The result

The introduction of myProjects has transformed how DIPL manages its remote housing projects. Automated reporting has reduced administrative effort while providing real-time insights into project performance. Standardised processes have improved efficiency and consistency, enabling better comparison of outcomes across projects. Collaboration features have strengthened communication and coordination, helping dispersed teams to work together more effectively.

Designed for scalability, the system has positioned DIPL to expand its use of myProjects across the department, supporting its long-term goal of improving efficiency, governance, and project outcomes.
