National Broadband Network
NBN is a nationwide project established by the Federal Government to enhance broadband internet coverage to every Australian household.
Challenge
RPS has been working with NBN Co and its project delivery partners to plan, design and deliver the infrastructure required for the nbn, while minimising impact and facilitating meaningful engagement with stakeholders, communities and customers.
In the project’s earliest phases, RPS was instrumental in developing high-level communications strategies, community consultation, environmental planning and creative solutions for the nbn’s five ‘first release sites’. The rollout of infrastructure at these locations was crucial as it allowed NBN Co to trial different design and construction methods, thus ensuring appropriate planning, design and delivery responses for the various conditions that would be encountered throughout Australia.
Solution
To maximise opt-in to the network, our communications and creative team has provided stakeholder advocacy, media relations, direct marketing, advertising and community awareness services to NBN Co, while members of our team have been embedded into NBN Co and its delivery partner teams to consult and provide direction on environmental compliance, stakeholder relations, subsurface infrastructure location, heritage management and much more.
We continue to support the nbn’s national rollout through statutory approvals, environmental planning and compliance, legislative land access and construction compliance services.
