Challenge
We conducted energy assessments to establish compliance with target water usage, as well as preparing reports to discharge Planning condition 34.
Solution
We prepared a Water Conservation Strategy Report prior to ground works starting on site to discharge Planning condition 35. The scheme detailed measures to reduce water use within the development and demonstrated compliance with the target water use of 105 litres or less per person, per day.
On completion of the development, we prepared a Revised Energy Strategy Report to discharge Planning condition 34. This confirmed that the building was constructed in line with the measures defined in the approved energy strategy report at Planning stage. It exceeded Waltham Forest Core Strategy Policy DMN 10 requirements of 40% reduction in on-site CO2 emissions over 2010 building regulations, equivalent to 35% against Part L building regulation 2013.
It also demonstrated that our approach based on high insulation standards, very efficient building services, individual air source heat pumps, communal CHP and photovoltaics panels, was more appropriate for this site than the one that had originally been approved for planning.
