How to manage GHG emissions
Companies generate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from across their organization through electricity use, corporate vehicles, manufacturing processes, and supply chain, among others. Businesses are measuring their GHG emissions to identify cost-saving opportunities, address enterprise customers’ inquiries, meet consumers’ expectations, align with stock exchange guidelines, get ahead of regulations, and align with industry standards.

Collect GHG emissions data
RPS collects GHG emissions data from across the company’s operations, such as offices, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and suppliers. The inventory is performed in accordance with The Greenhouse Gas Protocol – A Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and industry-specific guidelines. It includes Scope 1 (direct emissions from the company’s assets, such as corporate vehicles), Scope 2 emissions (emissions from electricity use in the company’s facilities), and Scope 3 emissions (emissions associated with suppliers, business commute, etc.), which is optional.
Calculate and visualize scopes 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions
After collecting the relevant data, RPS calculates the company’s GHG emissions footprint. RPS assists in selecting appropriate normalization factors, such as emissions per square footage, to help measure improvements over time. RPS provides clients with a dashboard to view their data in a way that provides meaningful insights into their GHG emissions. From the dashboard, our clients can share or publish their data as they deem necessary.
Set Reduction Target and Purchase Offsets
RPS works with the company to set science-based reduction targets, determine a target type (absolute reduction or intensity-based), set target boundaries (geographic operations, sources, and activities), develop an action plan to reduce emissions, and explore the purchase of offsets. In order to track progress, RPS will also conduct an annual re-evaluation of the company’s GHG levels.
