With the December deadline fast approaching, Local Authorities across Ireland must develop an effective plan to implement their decarbonisation zone. Our recent webinar shares best practice, guidance and considerations on how to create an effective decarbonisation implementation plan. Available to watch free on demand now.
In order for Ireland to meet its target of a 30% emissions reduction between 2021 and 2030, things need to change. And every sector has a role to play. But the public sector, and in particular Local Authorities, have a unique opportunity - and responsibility - to take a leadership position and drive community engagement.
The Governmentโs Climate Action Plan 2019 requires each Local Authority to identify and develop plans for one decarbonisation zone - an area in which a range of climate mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity measures are identified to address local low carbon energy, greenhouse gas emissions and climate needs, to contribute to national climate action targets.ย
After identifying the most suitable area for the zone by April of this year, each Local Authority must now develop their implementation plan ahead of the December deadline.
But the question is, how do Local Authorities effectively implement a decarbonisation zone? Drawing upon best practice from across Europe, our webinar is designed to help Local Authorities prepare by providing guidance on how to create an effective and impactful plan for the future. During the webinar, you will hear from a variety of speakers providing insight into different low carbon solutions that have proved successful in Europe and could be applied here in Ireland.
