As Australia adopts isolation in a bid to halt the spread of COVID-19, the community engagement industry is grappling with how to involve the community in decisions that matter when our go-to methodโface-to-faceโis a no-go.ย
It would be easy to say the sky is falling and retreat to our home offices until the pandemic has passed. But the crisis has afforded us opportunities we rarely get โ so letโs embrace them while we can.
Of course, there will always be things that canโt be done genuinely and rigorously online, and these may have to be postponed or cancelled until the pandemic is behind us. But we donโt have to down tools just because weโre socially isolated.
