Tetra Tech RPS appointed to support IBM on DEEAMS: A £320m cutting-edge asset management platform for the Ministry of Defence
We are delighted to announce we will be supporting IBM UK with safety, human factors and environmental assurance services for the DEEAMS contract – a new Ministry of Defence (MOD) asset management system that will revolutionise how the UK Armed Forces manages and maintains its equipment.
Technology is transforming how war is fought. As outlined in the Strategic Defence Review – the Government’s 10-year vision for British defence – now more than ever the UK Armed Forces must rapidly modernise and embrace new and innovative technologies to strengthen our military efficiency and capability.
Building on the Strategic Defence Review’s recommendations, IBM will be delivering Defence Equipment Engineering Asset Management Systems (DEEAMS) – a new cutting-edge MOD system that will operate across all military branches, civil service and key industry partners to help optimise the quality and speed of military decision-making.
The new system will update 17 siloed and outdated equipment asset management systems with one modern streamlined platform, tailored to specific regulatory needs within land, air and maritime domains. Utilising artificial intelligence (AI), the system aims to ensure the Armed Forces have the right equipment in the right place at the right time.
Aspiring to drive defence as an engine for growth, DEEAMS will create over 100 new highly skilled jobs and deliver on the Government’s Plan for Change with this £320 million investment.
Supporting over 65,000 users across over 130 major military platforms and assets, the platform will boost the efficiency and resilience of digital asset management to ensure our military have the best equipment support available.
Our safety, human factors and environmental assurance experts will provide IBM with a safety management system, plans and outputs as required by MOD standards, and integrate human factors assessment of user interfaces.
Carried out in phases across maritime, land and air domains, our role will involve significant stakeholder engagement to ensure that DEEAMS is a safe product to use for engineering and asset management support.
Our work will ensure that stakeholders within the MOD and IBM delivery partners work to a defined safety and environmental process that identifies the hazards associated with the collection, presentation and interpretation of data gathered by DEEAMS. This will be used to make engineering decisions on military platforms and weapons to improve availability and drive efficiency throughout the supply chain.
