RPS wins five year contract with Thames Water
11 March 2020 | 1 min read
Thames Water manage the water supplies for 15 million UK customers every day across London and the Thames Valley and, as part of their Chemicals Investigation Programme, our Services’ UK laboratories are looking at just how clean our rivers are. Having signed a five-year contract, we are part of the team working on the third phase of the Programme.
This third phase covers groundwater, estuaries and coastal waters and will:
- focus on analysing chemicals that exceed the Water Framework Directive environmental quality standards;
- and study new and existing wastewater treatment approaches
Our field teams will be collecting samples and transporting them to our laboratories. The samples taken from a range of catchments will identify and pinpoint emerging trends and the presence of particular contaminants. Our results will inform the water industry’s National Environment Programme in guiding the future of wastewater treatment and catchment management.
