RPS Water’s Mark Smith and eSAY Mobile’s Colin Yates accepted this prestigious award on behalf of both companies on 21st May after giving a demonstration and presentation to judges earlier that day.
Mark Smith said, “This is a great example of adding value to the services that we provide. We have taken an initiative and made it a practical reality.”
“Pinpoint” is an innovative field worker mobile platform commissioned by RPS Water and developed by eSAY Mobile to deliver more efficient leak detection and reporting processes. The system enables field engineers to file real-time reports of leaks/defects, from wherever they are, via a hand held Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) device with built in Global Satellite Positioning (GPS) and GPRS technologies.
This system was first piloted with RPS Water’s client, United Utilities. Paul Parr, Leakage Planner, from United Utilities said, “This is a phenomenal piece of technology. The biggest single benefit to us has been to help reduce the run-time of the leak, saving water as well as time and money. It has also liberated field staff – giving them a huge amount of flexibility and freedom to plan their day as well as helping them work more efficiently. RPS Water and eSAY are working together to deliver us not just results on the ground but more accountability through real-time data and management reports.”
At present Pinpoint is currently in use by United Utilities and Anglian Water. By saving time in the reporting of leaks, the software helps to increase efficiency by 15%.
