We are delighted to announce Faraz Baber as the new Operational Director for our Midlands and South East Planning teams.
In his new role, Faraz will be supporting the growth of our market-leading multi-disciplinary planning and environmental practice.
As a dual qualified chartered surveyor and town planner on the RICS and BPF Planning Committees, Faraz has served as an Executive Director for not-for-profit advocacy group London First and as the World City Programme Director at the cross-party political body London Councils. Both roles saw him work closely with London borough leaders, the Mayor of London and the senior team at City Hall.
Faraz cites our strong multi-disciplinary expertise as the decisive factor in joining us, commenting: “I am both honoured and excited to be joining RPS and leading a hugely talented team of versatile professionals who work across the built environment. I am looking forward to supporting both new and existing clients to help them successfully deliver on their development opportunities, and to provide our client base with strategic advice and intelligence.
“Given the origins of RPS as an environmentally-led planning consultancy, it’s arguably one of the only companies equipped with the knowledge and skills to help our clients respond to the challenge of climate change. So, I’m thrilled to be working with like-minded individuals to make a real difference in creating sustainable developments.”
With an extensive background and wealth of public and private sector experience – at both national and regional level – Faraz has worked on a number of major development projects including large-scale mixed-use regeneration schemes.
At RPS, Faraz will be combining the existing regional planning teams to offer clients an even greater collaborative proposition, which will drive opportunity for growth across the South East and Midlands.
Paul Wilmott, RPS Managing Director - Planning, adds: “Faraz’s appointment is a planned and significant step in our growth strategy, and central in our drive to provide market-leading value for our clients. His compelling experience, expertise and career achievements will not only provide valuable insight to our clients, but also support our planning teams to grow their careers. I’m looking forward to working closely with him in this exciting stage of growth.”
