RPS signs eight year leak detection services contract with Thames Water
18 March 2019 | 1 min read
Thames Water has announced RPS as the successful consultant to deliver leak detection services for its Thames Valley area. The contract is worth £70m to RPS over eight years.
This is one of three significant programmes that Thames Water have contracted today. Setting an ambitious target to reduce leakage by 15% by 2025 as part of their £11.7 billion business plan, the programme is expected to save the equivalent of 172 Olympic swimming pools of water every day!
RPS will be responsible for identifying leaks, so that Thames Water can fix them as soon as possible to minimise their impact on the environment and to customers. Teams will use a diverse range of leak detection methods, plus innovative solutions to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of activities.
We’ll be deploying a delivery team of over 150 leakage specialists – it’s a complex programme resulting in 1000s of hours a week spent pinpointing the position of non-visible leaks from Thames Water’s and its customers’ infrastructure networks.
