RPS risk professionals shortlisted for Young Talent Award

RPS is pleased to announce that two of our Health, Safety and Risk staff have been shortlisted for the Young Talent Award at the Chemicals Northwest annual awards to be held at the Imperial War Museum North this month (28 March).

RPS Risk Consultants James Daley and Andrew Garrison were both shortlisted for the Chemical Industries Association Young Ambassador award last year in recognition of their professional expertise and contribution to risk management in the energy and aviation sectors.

This years’ entries focused on recent assignments and the experience gained working with Chemical operating companies and hopefully this approach will pay dividends.

“I am pleased to be shortlisted for the award and it means a lot, as a supporting consultant to the chemical industry, to be recognised for my contribution” says Andrew “I look forward to representing RPS at the awards and meeting others who have contributed to the success of the UK chemical sector.”

Andrew joined RPS’ Health Safety & Risk team in the Warrington office in 2014 having graduated from the University of Leeds with an honours degree in Physics. He specialises in protecting workers from the risk of Explosion (Covered by the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) in the UK). In 2017 Andrew co-prepared the Energy Institute’s research report on Aviation Fuelling Hazardous Area Classification and undertook its literature review.

“As an enthusiastic and active member of the chemical, fire and process industry I am pleased to be shortlisted for the Young Talent Award at the Chemicals Northwest Annual Awards” says James “I am looking forward to networking with likeminded people who are involved in the chemical industry and representing RPS.”

James joined RPS in 2013 with an honours degree in Fire Safety and Risk Management, and is currently working towards Chartered Engineering status with the Institute of Fire Engineers. James’ experience so far in safety engineering has typically been task-based, within the UK Process, Nuclear and Defence industries. He continues to put theory into practice and develop his technical ability to develop his safety case understanding, including fire engineering, nuclear fire engineering, conventional safety assessments and other associated areas. He has authored technical articles on Safety System Fire Analysis and Fire Prevention Plans which he has presented at the IChemE international Hazards 27 & 28 conference and at HazardEx 2017 & 2018.
