RPS metocean team awarded new project for Woodside Energy
RPS will support Woodside Energy’s deepwater exploration in Trinidad and Tobago with an offshore metocean survey of the proposed pipeline routes.
Woodside Energy has engaged RPS for a one-year programme to measure oceanographic conditions, including reporting, and data analysis. This is intended to inform design and operational decision-making.
The RPS metocean team will leverage its extensive expertise in deepwater and near-shore oceanographic data collection, along with specific experience with pipeline design criteria measurements and local experience in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. The team is well-known for its focus on safety, data quality, and delivery excellence.
The survey programme will use RPS’ CM04 current meters, designed and manufactured in-house, which will measure clean and noiseless data in an environment where this is critical. The CM04’s sampling rate capability also allows for measurement of high-frequency internal waves, which can have significant impact on pipeline design and operations. This will be the first time measurements of these waves will be attempted in this area.
Keith Kurrus, General Manager, Metocean – North America, says:
“Accurate, reliable metocean information is vital to safe, efficient offshore development, production and operations. We are delighted to support Woodside Energy in acquiring high-quality data through the use of the most suitable technology for this project.”
