RPS is an industry partner of Transforming energy Infrastructure through Digital Engineering (TIDE), which was first established in 2021.
TIDE is a major funding initiative of the Australian Research Council (ARC), and hosted at The University of Western Australia (UWA). RPS is one of several industry partners for the initiative, which plans to develop new science and technology through digital engineering. Its aims are to inform the development of marine renewables and optimise the operation of existing and future offshore energy infrastructure.
TIDE was given its official launch on 16th November 2022 at UWA’s Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre. The event was attended by RPS’ John Tompson, CEO – Energy, Murray Burling, Managing Director Energy Asia Pacific, and Roger Edgecombe, Director Energy Operations AAP, who joined to celebrate the initiative’s launch and its achievements to date.
Earlier this year, ARC awarded a Linkage Project grant worth AUS $707,971 to a team including researchers from TIDE, UWA and RPS. Only one in three Linkage Project applications were successful in this funding round.
Murray Burling says, “At RPS, we are great believers in the potential of partnerships and collaboration to answer the challenges of complex marine environments, especially through investing in and developing new technologies. We’re very excited to see the official launch of TIDE and look forward to supporting innovation that will benefit Australia and the wider world’s offshore industries.”
