Recruiting local young talent in Scotland

14 Dec 2021

As part of our commitment to social value and to invest and develop local talent, the RPS Water business has appointed two new Trainee Planners via the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Kickstart Scheme (part of the TIGERS initiative), into the Operations Team in Kirkintilloch, Scotland.

We’re incredibly pleased to welcome Connor White and Stephen Bannon to our Team.

Following a robust interview and assessment process, Connor and Stephen stood out from all other candidates with their enthusiasm, maturity, and obvious commitment to seize the opportunity presented to them. They have both settled well into the team and are already making significant contributions and exceeding our expectations. Watch the video below to hear about their experiences, in their own words.

Connor has taken up his role within the Programme Management Team and is learning about project and delivery planning using specialist Primavera (P6) planning and forecasting software. Stephen is working in our Field Services Department, learning to plan our field activities using our bespoke software applications.

Both job roles are potentially long-term positions within our organisation and our objective is to continue to support our new recruits beyond the initial six-month funded placement as permanent employees.

TIGERS and the Kickstart Scheme

The Training Initiative Generating Effective Results Scotland ‘TIGERS’ is an organisation that supports young people to develop their skills through different initiatives such as Kickstart Scheme, Modern Apprenticeship, Foundation Apprenticeship, school programmes and Mentorship programmes.

As part of our ongoing pledge to embed great social value practices within RPS, along with our focus on training and development, we will continue to work with TIGERS and the Kickstart Scheme, to bring young local talent to the fore.
