Planning consent for Residential development in central Birmingham

Acting as lead consultant for Galliard Homes, we’re delighted to announce planning consent has been approved for the Galliard Apsley Partnership of 438 houses and apartments in Balsall Heath.
We provided a multi-disciplinary offer of planning, sustainability, landscape, lighting, arboriculture and M&E services on the project, in central Birmingham.
Breathing new life into the area and creating second city-living modern housing opportunities, the development will be called Belgrave Village and consist of two, three and four-bedroom townhouses, and one and two-bedroom apartments, with private and shared courtyard gardens.
Jacob Bonehill, Associate Director – Planning, said: “It’s a great achievement to have secured planning permission in what will be a fantastic regeneration project for central Birmingham. We’re proud to have been involved in the process and be bringing the development to fruition.”
Cameron Austin-Fell, Director – Planning, adds: “Not only does this project demonstrate just some of the services we can provide to clients, but it also highlights one of a number of developments in central Birmingham that RPS are involved in.”
Back in 2019 Galliard Homes partnered with Apsley House Capital in a joint venture with plans to develop £500m worth of regeneration projects in Birmingham. This would equate to 2,250 new homes.
Michael Watson, Architectural and Technical Director at Galliard Homes, also said: “We are excited by the opportunity to regenerate a currently underutilised and unloved plot of land to create an attractive neighbourhood that will not only transform the site but will also make a positive contribution to the wider Balsall Heath area.”
Richard Jenkins, Head of Sustainability and Urban Development at Galliard Homes, adds: “Having not worked with RPS’ Birmingham team previously, we chose to appoint them based on their reputation. They exceeded our expectations, managing the planning application extremely professionally, and providing a number of technical services. Belgrave Village is our fourth consented scheme in Birmingham, adding to our growing portfolio of exciting regeneration projects making positive contributions to local communities across the city. We hope to build on this success and look forward to RPS’s help in doing so in the future.”
