In recognition of his significant contribution to the acoustics consultancy industry, our Acoustics Director Matthew Hyden has been awarded the grade of Fellow by the Institute of Acoustics (FIOA).
Delighted to have been recognised with this accolade, Mat comments: “I’m really proud to have been recognised by the Institute of Acoustics with this fellowship. Acoustics is not only a job for me but also a passion. After more than 22 years in the acoustic consultancy industry, I’m still excited to be involved in such a varied, challenging, and evolving topic.”
Mat’s experience spans a wide range of sectors, specialising in Building, Industrial and Environmental Acoustics. He’s a chartered engineer, a member of the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) good practice committee, ANC acoustics, ventilation and overheating (AVO) group, and a chairman of the ANC AVO case studies working group.
He recently co-authored the IoA / ANC Acoustics Ventilation and Overheating (AVO) guide, and was also previously a Robust Details inspector.
Mat adds: “Getting involved in industry activities, such as being on the Board of Directors of the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC), being a member of the ANC Good Practice Committee, contributing to and authoring industry good practice guidance, have been some of the most enjoyable parts of my career, whilst also helping me to increase my own knowledge of acoustics.
“I would recommend that anyone who has the chance to get involved in this type of industry activity does so. I fully intend to carry on with initiatives outside of the ‘day job’, that help me to develop new skills and benefit the wider acoustic industry.”
We're pleased that his achievements and input to the profession have been widely acknowledged with a fellowship, and proud that he's part of the team - congratulations Mat.
