RPS is delighted that our Haulbowline East Tip Remediation Project has won the 2020 ACEI Engineering Excellence Award in the Civil Engineering Category.
ACEI President 2019-2020 (and Managing Director for our Republic of Ireland business) Gerry Carty, presented certificates to the Engineering Excellence Award Winners at a socially distanced event outside the ACEI offices in Dublin.
The project is a complex engineering and environmental remediation of a large-scale hazardous waste site affecting land and marine environments. The project defined international best project practice through bespoke risk management and innovative engineering providing cost effective transformation of the site. The successful delivery required a tailored approach to procurement, contract management and through to construction; delivering an international reference for this type of challenge.
We provided engineering, planning, environmental, contract management and construction supervision services to our client Cork County Council on this project. This prestigious award is recognition of the collaboration and technical excellence of the client, consultant and contractor to transform a contaminated site into a public amenity.
ACEI President and Managing Director for our Republic of Ireland business, Gerry Carty led the congratulations:
“I want to congratulate the project team led by Brendan Brice in our Cork office for the quality of the project and their management from commencement to handover and those in the offices in Galway, Dublin, Bristol, Belfast, Edinburgh, Manchester and London Farringdon who contributed to the project. It is a most impressive project and new public amenity, together with a really pleasant walk in the lower harbour“.
