Hosted by the Royal Engineers Works Groups (RE Wks Gps), the industry leadership and development competition saw teams take on a series of stimulating and challenging tasks set in a military environment. The event attracted teams from various companies proud to be engaged and have a covenant with the Armed Forces. It provided the opportunity to showcase the talents of our young professionals and push the boundaries.
RPS’ team, made up of Architectural and Engineering colleagues including Molly Jarvis, Daniel Der-Parseghian, Mike Cooper, Danae Angelopoulos and Callum Waring, demonstrated exceptional problem-solving and collaborative skills throughout the competition, whilst strengthening their understanding of RE Wks Gps' operations and approach to infrastructure capability. The activities offered networking and team building opportunities, with the chance to interact with the Armed Forces, which included:
- Command tasks
- Military exercises
- Indoor shooting on a laser range
- Natural disaster planning exercise
- A formal dinner and social lunches
Mark Harris – Technical Director comments: “I was proud to see how well the team worked together and supported each other in this unique and challenging exercise."
Daniel Der-Parseghian – Architectural Assistant comments: “It was a physically and mentally demanding weekend, combined with lots of laughter and good company, I enjoyed every minute of it. The event reinforced the value of teamwork, finding each other’s strengths, and trusting in the leadership and followership of fellow members.”
Molly Jarvis – Graduate Engineer comments: “This event enabled us to learn about our own capabilities and work together to overcome various challenges, whilst showing that stepping outside of your comfort zone can reap many benefits. I’d highly recommend participating, as we built strong relationships and learnt about the incredible work of Regulars and Reservists, including their traditions and routines.”
The event will undoubtedly inspire the team, as our future leaders, to continue pushing themselves to deliver innovative and impactful solutions for problems that matter.
