Bringing a New Look to a Famous Beachfront

The RPS team in Perth is proud to have been appointed to provide environmental consulting services on the state-led redevelopment program at Scarborough, which will be delivered by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) in partnership with the City of Stirling.

RPS will provide ongoing general environmental, coastal planning and management advice to the Scarborough Redevelopment project team throughout the design and delivery phases of the Public Domain works. RPS will be responsible for the provision of strategic environmental advice to the MRA in delivering a great Scarborough redevelopment.

RPS Technical Director, John Halleen, said the RPS project team is excited to be a part of this revitalisation project across WA’s most famous beachfront.

“Central to this role is our expertise and environmental advice enabling Scarborough’s revitalisation,” he said. “This includes enhancing environmental integrity by encouraging ecologically sustainable design, resource efficiency, recycling and water management.”

Scarborough is located approximately 14 kilometres from central Perth and is one of Perth’s major tourist destinations. The iconic Scarborough beach is recognised as a prime destination by international, national and local visitors.

The redevelopment area, comprising approximately 100 hectares of land, has been subject to a design and development in line with the Scarborough Master Plan (2015), with MRA working to finalise a new Redevelopment Scheme and Planning Framework presently. The Government and City of Stirling have combined to commit $75.4 million to revitalise the area as a beachside hub for all to enjoy, year round.

RPS looks forward to again working with the MRA following the recent Elizabeth Quay project.
