Be the BEST with Behavioural Safety

RPS is delighted to have made the shortlist for the Utility Week Star Awards, Health and Safety Champion Initiative following the submission of the “Behavioural Excellence Starts Today (BEST)” entry.

The award will be announced on Friday 29th June 2018 at the prestigious Utility Week Star Awards Ceremony at the Hilton in Manchester.

The award entry was made following the successful roll out of our behavioural safety programme, Behavioural Excellence Starts Today (BEST) across the water business.

The fundamental objective of BEST is to improve our Health & Safety performance, drive down incidents and provide a step-change in our already high-performing health and safety culture.

Since its introduction, the “Be The BEST” initiative has achieved a significant reduction in the number incidents, improved understanding from managers and staff in their responsibilities and expected behaviour; and a ‘no blame’ culture has provided more open health and safety discussions.

Our Accident Frequency Rate has shown continual improvement reducing by over 30% in 2017.

Our specific achievements include:

Over 30% reduction in Accident Frequency Rate

Improved employee engagement in Health & Safety

Increased number of senior management safety conversation
