The UK is currently in the midst of a housing crisis with an estimated 8.4 million people in England alone living in an unaffordable, insecure or unsuitable home, according to the National Housing Federation.
“Despite decades of discussion and countless policy interventions, the UK housing crisis remains. We have for decades failed to build enough homes in the places people need them and the fundamental drivers behind the housing market and development model are flawed.” The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Housing Market & Housing Delivery.
In recognition of our deep expertise in the residential sector, RPS has been invited to join the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Housing Market & Housing Delivery on the advisory board. The Group has been formed by MPs across all parties who share a belief in the importance of building new homes and want to raise the issue high up the political agenda.
Solving the UK’s housing crisis is a very complex challenge and the delivery of new homes involves many parties. The crisis can’t be fixed by any single organisation or group and the APPG brings together a range of organisations committed to achieving this vision. Serving to advise the Executive Board, the Advisory Board is made up of experts from industry, academia and relevant professional bodies. John Chubb, CEO of our Consulting UK & Ireland business, will be acting as RPS’ representative.
“Our involvement in the APPG further cements our position as a key player in the sector and we look forward to playing an active role in helping the APPG to shape and deliver its programme.” John Chubb, CEO – Consulting UK & Ireland
The Group aims to develop much stronger relations between Parliament and business leaders and provide a forum for information sharing and balanced policy debate. We’re proud to be working together with other leading experts in the industry to help solve the biggest challenge faced by the housing sector today.
