Actively prioritising wellbeing goes beyond maintaining good productivity

The Irish News has recognised that we go beyond simply maintaining a productive workforce by actively prioritising the wellbeing of our employees. We endeavour to ensure our staff have a healthy and happy working atmosphere and enjoy high levels of morale, productivity and enthusiasm.
We have spent the last four years developing our Health and Wellbeing programme and have devised a charter which supports a collaborative and healthy working environment. Most importantly, we have listened to our staff through surveys and our Health and Wellbeing Committee, to enable us to provide focused programmes and training in Mental Health First Aid.
We have a varied range of activities and seminars ongoing ranging from weekly pilates, gym class, nutritional seminars, critical illness awareness sessions as well as a wide variety of stress and mindfulness seminars.
Michael Shaw, our Managing Director for Northern Ireland, says “We believe that our staff thrive and perform at their best within the atmosphere of our strong Health and Wellbeing platform. We have created a culture where we encourage support for one another and promote a positive mental health.”
