Water neutrality: Slowing the flow

The UK is facing increasing pressure in relation to water resources. Last summer, large swathes of the population were subject to hosepipe bans, with public advertising campaigns seeking to reduce the demand for water.

Concerns have been raised by Natural England that groundwater abstraction within the Sussex North Water Supply Zone may be harming biodiversity within internationally designated sites. Water supplied by Southern Water within this zone is hydrologically linked to the Arun Valley and these sites need to demonstrate water neutrality.

This has immediately stalled development plans for thousands of properties while suitable solutions are being identified and agreed with planning authorities. Our webinar reviews the area in question, the factors in play, and the potential strategic solutions to allowing development to progress.
